BiographyPaolo Caliari was called Il Veronese after his birthplace, Verona. By 1553 he was painting in Venice at the Palazzo Ducale. Thereafter, apart from trips to Mantua and Rome during the 1550s and 1560s, he worked in Venice and in neighboring towns.
