Commentary

This is the wood model for the medal of Schwarz. The reverses of those medals also include a circumferential inscription not seen here: TVA FIAT VOLVNTAS (May your will be done). Schwarz, a cousin of the medalist Hans Schwarz, was a merchant and accountant from Augsburg who worked for Jakob Fugger and his family. He is remembered for his illustrated catalogue of the different types of clothing he wore for several decades, the Klaidungsbüchlein or Trachtenbuch.
