CommentaryCreated to celebrate the expulsion of the English from France in 1453 and the subsequent end of the Hundred Years' War (1337–1453), this medal honors the French king, who, after the war, favored a conciliatory policy, pardoning many towns that had sided with the English. Various combinations of obverses and reverses exist.
