A generous gift of collector Asbjorn R. Lunde. Grapes with Insects on a Marble Top, by the Dutch painter Gerard van Spaendonck, is among the few oil paintings by the artist in an American public collection. Van Spaendonck was active in Paris, where he held a number of prestigious academic posts and royal appointments during his long career as one of France's leading still-life painters.
