Pierre Gouthière

Artist Info
Pierre Gouthière(French, 1732–1813)

The greatest chaser and gilder of bronze during the Louis XVI period, Gouthière carried out commissions for Madame Du Barry, the Duchesse de Mazarin, and the Duc d’Aumont. Because of a series of reversals and wasteful expenditures, he was forced into bankruptcy and died in poverty.
