Jean-François-Thérèse Chalgrin

BiographyWinner of the Prix de Rome for architecture in 1758, Chalgrin was appointed inspector of works in Paris in 1763. He began designs in 1772 for the church of Saint-Philippe-du-Roule. His last major task was the commencement in 1806 of the Arc de Triomphe de l’Étoile.
