Jean (Jehan) Barbet(French, d. 1514)

Barbet’s name is first recorded in 1475, inscribed on the wing of the Frick’s bronze Angel. In 1491 he was named “Cannonnier du Roi” at Lyon, where, in documents referring to him at subsequent dates, he appears to have been responsible for supervising the city’s artillery and for casting cannon and cannonballs.
