BiographyLittle is known of the life of Bernard Vanrisamburgh II, one of the great cabinetmakers of the eighteenth century. Son of a cabinetmaker of the same name who emigrated to Paris from Holland, Bernard II was admitted to the guild of menuisiers-ébénistes before 1730 and for some twenty-five years was among the most important suppliers to the Crown. In 1764 he sold his workshop to his son Bernard III.
