Commentary

After a long exile, Charles II was proclaimed King of England on May 8, 1660. The reverse shows the English fleet departing from Scheveningen with Charles returning to England. Some examples of the medal are signed PVA; thus the entire group is attributed to Pieter
van Abeele.
