Elisabetta Querini, daughter of the Venetian Francesco Querini, was a celebrated beauty and learned woman of her time. She married Lorenzo Massolo in 1512 and was widowed in 1556. They were patrons of Titian and commissioned from him a portrait of Elisabetta
(ca. 1534, now lost) and the Martyrdom of St. Lawrence in the Gesuiti in Venice.
