Commentary

Charles-René Péan, Lord of Mosnac, was maître de la chambre des comptes and squire. In the fine modeling of the terracotta, especially in areas such as the fur collar or the hair, the Nini portrait gives an impression of luxury, befitting an accomplished middle-aged man who has attained a solid government position.
